Aftermath: The Postman

Movie:
"The Postman" 1997; Kevin Costner, dir.

Staring:
Kevin Costner, a donkey (eaten), a horse (also eaten)

Nodded off/Nyquil kicked in around:
I'm guessing over 90 minutes into the film, which would be impressive, except the movie runs a whopping 177 minutes. I seem to recall that everything looked like it was beautifully filmed in Idaho/Montana/Wyoming, which is strange, because I expected a more gritty, documentarian feel such as in U2's Rattle and Hum or Madonna's Truth or Dare. (I later discovered this was a work of fiction, not a concert film of the indie pop/electronic band The Postal Service.)

Observation/Life Lesson:
Although set in a post-apocalyptic not-too-distant future year of 2013, everyone knows how to ride a horse and postmen dress like Civil War reenactors. Also in the future, mailmen are revered as agents of hope, not the guys who stuff your mailbox full of high-interest credit card offers.
